A MOBILE AND DEPLOYABLE ELECTROMAGNETIC PLATFORM

Quantum Drive is designed as a modular architecture capable of integration onto different mobile platforms.

Beyond the development of the technological demonstrator, this approach opens the way to systems that can be transported, deployed, positioned and oriented according to operational requirements.

Two configurations are of particular interest: heavy land platforms and maritime platforms.

LAND MOBILITY — HEAVY VEHICLE PLATFORM

Integration onto a heavy-duty carrier vehicle enables Quantum Drive to be developed as a mobile electromagnetic platform.

The vehicle can integrate within a single system:

• Modular electromagnetic system
• Electrical power supply and energy storage
• Power electronics and SiC switching
• HTS and cryogenic systems
• ECU, instrumentation and control systems
• Mechanical positioning and orientation systems

This architecture is designed to enable the system to be deployed where temporary or reinforced protection is required and positioned according to operational needs.

PROTECTION OF CRITICAL SITES & INFRASTRUCTURE

A mobile land-based platform could be developed for the protection of:

• Critical infrastructure
• Energy facilities
• Sensitive industrial sites
• Ports and logistics facilities
• Transport infrastructure
• Strategic or temporarily exposed areas

Mobility provides the ability to complement fixed protection infrastructure with a rapidly deployable and repositionable technological platform.

MARITIME APPLICATIONS

The maritime environment represents another important field of application for the Quantum Drive architecture.

Integration onto a naval platform would enable the technology to be evaluated for protection against different categories of unmanned systems approaching vessels, ports or maritime infrastructure.

This includes aerial UAV threats as well as, within a system research and integration framework, autonomous or remotely operated threats operating at or near the sea surface.

The modular architecture can be adapted to the specific constraints of maritime platforms, including onboard power availability, marine environmental conditions, vibration, vessel motion, cooling, sensor integration and operational safety.

AN INTEGRATED ENERGY ARCHITECTURE

The mobility of Quantum Drive is based on integrating its principal technological functions directly within the carrier platform:

POWER SOURCE
→ SMES / FAST ENERGY STORAGE
→ POWER ELECTRONICS & SiC SWITCHING
→ ELECTROMAGNETIC MODULES
→ HTS & CRYOGENICS
→ SENSORS & METROLOGY
→ ECU & CONTROL

The objective is to develop a highly integrated platform capable of operating with maximum autonomy from permanent ground infrastructure.

MODULARITY & INTEGRATION

Quantum Drive's modular design facilitates adaptation to different carrier platforms.

Energy, cryogenic, electronic and control functions can be organised into dedicated subsystems according to the constraints of the vehicle or vessel.

This modularity also makes it possible to investigate different system dimensions and energy configurations while retaining the same fundamental technological architecture.

A MOBILE DUAL-USE TECHNOLOGY

Mobility also opens opportunities beyond defence applications.

The same technological building blocks — energy storage, power electronics, superconductivity, cryogenics, control and electromagnetic systems — can contribute to future industrial, scientific and space applications.

Quantum Drive is therefore conceived not as a single fixed installation, but as a modular, integrable, deployable and evolving technological platform.

FROM EXPERIMENTAL PLATFORM TO DEPLOYABLE SYSTEM

The TRL 3–5 programme will first characterise the key technological building blocks and validate their integration within a representative experimental environment.

Subsequent development stages can then address their adaptation to the specific requirements of land and maritime platforms.
